i'm starting to draw plans for a cross betwee the bjurt and a hexayurt. that is, adapting the hard sidewall covering that makes the hexayurt work well, to the framework of the 17' bjurt. the bjurts have 8 walls, so that's make an octabjurt really. well, it's a standard bjurt really, with sidewall materials from work done by the hexayurt folks.

so i've drawn up the dimensions; now i know how much i need for the covering, siding, and tape. i'll get cardboard for a prototype from an industrial supply shop. hexayurt recommends industrial strength tape as well (not standard off-the-shelf), certainly not duct tape (doesn't work well on the playa!).
i've seen cardboard domes on the playa, never been too impressed. wood is too heavy to transport. really need something with the strength of wood toward the weight of cardboard. that's where these other materials come in.
next step is to confirm sizes/options on the materials, and place an order with my favorite supply shop.
