another splurge here (cheap on ebay). turns the phone into decent speaker phone. this gizmo also kicks the phone profile to 'in-car' when docked (which i've since renamed). it charges the phone as well...
there's a button to take calls/hang up, a mute button, and switch on the side that sends audio back through phone (and swaps the profile back). this is meant for swapping to a headset during a call... appears this mode effectively makes this gizmo a plain-old charger.
the 'in-car' profile is a fixed setting here, unlike the regular desk charger (which lets you assign a profile). you can also just pick up the phone and continue talking, for privacy.
you can definitely use this in the car (for hands free speaker phone), assuming yours is relatively quiet - unlike my VW Bus.
