i'm not one to get every latest gizmo, but there's a few technologies i recognize and adopt early on. i've been using various wireless technologies like bluetooth since it came out. i won't buy a phone without it...
but i've only recently decided to pick up an extra line and split my personal and my business lines. unfortunately this means toting along an extra phone - which i'm not terribly fond of (see my other post/rant about multiple lines on gsm phones). at least the phones are small... my old T-39 is actually not too much larger than brand new, motorola 'razr'. especially since i've replaced the antenna with a stubby aftermarket version.
because my T39 only pairs to a single ericsson HBH-35 headset - i've assumed likewise with the headset itself. paired that up with the line i use more. so i was surprised recently, when by mistake, i started to make a call with my other phone using the headset previously paired with that phone.
when i hung up, i realized i had used the "other" line -- and that my headset totally works on both phones. that rocks!
never mind i should only have to carry *one* phone - at least they got it right with the headset interface, pairing up with more than one phone. i'm not sure what this means if you try to initiate a call with the headset - i never really do that anyway.
this might be an artifact of the vanilla "0000" pin (passkey) key exchange code. maybe the headset doesn't really store *any* device information, it's the phone -or connecting- device that authenticates with it.
followup: when i set up a new phone, seems i need to pair the new phone, then pair up the old phone *again*. not sure why, or what i might being doing out of sequence when testing it all out. but pairing both phone always works.
