i was very frustrated by cambridge bluetooth... had trouble pairing with my ericsson t39. usually, i just discover devices to pair with, enter a new passkey then answer the prompt on my laptop and enter the passkey. i'm used to not being able to pair the other way around with the t39 (one of the first phones w/ bluetooth).
when i went to pair in the usual manner, i just got error messages. something about not being able to exchange keys. for grins, i tried it the other way around, and if you specify *not* to use a passkey it will pair up.
however, if you don't use a passkey and try to use dial-up networking, it will error out. networking requires a passkey. so no dice there.
for a while i was downloading various drivers, reading online reports of what other people have been up to, to get things to work. not sure that was even the problem, but i was hoping other drivers were smarter and would actually prompt when the request for pairing came along. no luck.
so, i'm stuck.
i didn't find anything online right away, at least not while i was using acer for a keyword (someone else out there might have had this problem!?). almost at the point of calling tech support on this one, i decided to hunt around the net one more time.
with a broader search, and here's what i found...
on T39: go to extras>Bluetooth>Paired devices>add device>phone accepts, *THEN* right click on the phone icon in entire bluetooth network, choose pair device (or search for devices etc), and follow the instructions.
totally worked. woah, i've forgotten about that phone-accepts menu option for pairing (since the higher level 'discover' menu item tends to always work with my other laptop / bluetooth devices).
so that's how you pair up an ericsson T39 to an acer travelmate c110 series tablet with built-in cambridge bluetooth (internal usb device).
