still an amazing phone!
ah, so the screen on my replacement t-39 just stopped working. damn! realizing i had enough parts from two phones to make one good one, i used the base (electronics) from one, and the casing (top) from the other to make one complete phone.
however, i dropped that, and the battery clip wasn't holding so well. after putting up with that for some time, i decided to get another one, or shop for a new model.
so there i was again - surely they're some new phones on the market. i got my first t-39 over *four* years ago. there are like a billion phones on the planet. my requirements are simple. small flip phone with bluetooth, with decent ability to configure sounds and alerts. in my view the T-39 is surprisingly, still the *only* choice. every one i know wants a flip, or clamshell (since there are no true flip phones anymore). i don't get why there aren't more on the market, other than design cost.
bucking another trend, i'm not really missing a camera phone, it's not that important to me. sure, it'd be a nice feature... but i really want a phone that works, easy to carry. the flip kicks ass... (no fussing with key locks, no phantom calls) and so *few* phones have bluetooth - what's up with that?? i use the wireless headset in the car. along with wireless data, gprs over bluetooth for my laptop.
one nice thing about the T-39 is that the menu screens are faster than prior models. it keeps up while i rapid fire though the menus - at least most of the time.
i actually like the electroluminescent display. it rocks. it's the *only* phone i've ever seen with that. i wouldn't mind a color screen and ringtones - but not at the expense of functionality - and with it's small size, t-39 is king. so yes, i bought another one!
there's one phone that might replace it... the motorola Razr v3 ?? maybe when the price comes down. ericsson needs to * get * with * it *, and make some new flip phones! yo!
