a fabulous place to get some old belgian style or german beer. hidden away in the trees, this 90-year-old Bavarian-style clubhouse has patio that overlooks Mt. Tamalpais and Muir Woods. great setting for beer, even for califonia. nice.

background: In 1912, members of the Vienna-based Naturfreunde (Nature friends) ponied up a couple hundred bucks, bought a parcel of land facing Mt. Tamalpais. Naturfreunde, now a worldwide organization is dedicated to sustainable tourism, with lodges all over the globe. Members can stay overnight in exchange for a stint volunteering at the tap.
