Since i use my cellphone for internet connectivity on the road, sometimes i really don't need or want images displayed while surfing the web. it takes too much time to load a page on the slow connection.
i used to have a limit on the amount of data as well, or was charged overage fees (not an issue anymore). all the same - it's a slow connection so better to avoid taking up bandwidth with images if i don't need them.
what's the deal you ask since it's easy enough to enable/disable images going through tools | internet options | advanced | enable inline images?
but internet explorer takes a remarkably long time after applying the change until you can start using it again. it's just annoying.
instead i use a reg file to disable images, and another to enable images again. the reg file modifies the key value internet explorer uses to control inline image behavior.
i added a few other key values others while i was at it, disabling inline sounds as well (don't need those either over the cell phone). i use the reg files on the fly and they work without choking up or slowing internet explorer at all.
you'll find the values for inline images, and other noteable settings here....
